My dislike of Valentine's day started in first grade. Back in those days, schools didn't try to make things fair and guarantee goodies for everyone. So when I didn't get the Valentine's card I wanted, or I got a mean one, it hurt.
I decided Valentine's day is a silly made up holiday designed to sell flowers and torture grade school children. Why should I participate in a scam? So, for a long time, I didn't. I was a love grinch. But that has changed.
I participate in Valentine's day to celebrate Love. Love is great because the more you give it, the more you have. God tells us to love Him and each other, in fact He commands it. Don't let commercialism turn you into a love grinch. Valentine's day gives husband's free reign to display their love in any way they want, without seeming goofy. So write a corny poem, sing a love song, dress up in heart pajamas and kiss your wife. Let her know you love her.
