No Joke

Humor is a great way to break the ice or lighten a mood. But jokes that come at someone elses expense are dangerous and possibly cruel.

I always advocate not making fun of your wife. Making the person you love feel awkward, hurt or uncomfortable isnt loving.

However, recently I did make  joke at my wife's expense. And I did it in front of a large group. It was hurtful and mean.  I was going for laughs and didn't think of the consequences.

It reminded me that not having bad intentions does not excuse anything. Throwing your best friend's feelings under the bus for a laugh is wrong. And totally contrary to being a clever husband. L

There is no secret to marriage. Just show your wife you love her every once and while.  A woman will put up with an awful lot if she knows she is loved.  Keep things fresh.  Pull things out of the hat every once and a while ----John Walton
